You can't phone Instagram. Meta says it runs no general customer-service line, and numbers posing as Meta support are likely scams. Support comes through other doors instead: the Help Center with its Meta AI assistant, Report a problem in the app, Support Requests for things you've reported, Meta Verified for subscribers and Meta Business Support for advertisers. Locked out? Then the login-screen recovery flow and instagram.com/hacked are your support channel. EU residents also have a dedicated form.
No number to call
Meta's Help Center leaves no doubt: across all its apps, Instagram included, there's no general customer-service phone line, and any "Meta support" number you find should be treated as a likely scam. The only caveat Meta mentions is specialised phone support for some countries or products.
For ordinary accounts, the only phone contact sits inside a paid plan: Premium and Max subscribers to Meta Verified can ask an agent to call them from within the app. You request the call; you never dial a number.
Match your problem to a channel
| Problem | Channel |
|---|---|
| Locked out or hacked | The recovery flow itself: a login link, then a support request, or instagram.com/hacked |
| A feature is broken | Report a problem, in the app's Help menu |
| Following up on a report | Support Requests, under Help in settings |
| Disagreeing with a decision | Request a review, from the notice or Account Status |
| A how-to question | The Meta AI support assistant in the Help Center (signed in) |
| You pay for Meta Verified | A human agent by chat or email, in the mobile app |
| You run ads | Meta Business Support, via the Meta Business Help Center |
| You live in the EU | Meta's EU support form, linked from Instagram's points-of-contact page |
Help Center and the AI assistant
Instagram calls the Help Center the fastest route, and for most questions that holds. Next to the articles now sits the Meta AI support assistant, which Meta says can diagnose problems, walk you through jobs like appealing a decision or securing a hijacked account, and look up details such as account status, monetisation eligibility or violations.
In the Help Center, tap Ask a question… and type or choose one. The snag if you're locked out: Meta says the assistant only answers there when you're signed in to Instagram in the same browser. Meta adds two caveats: AI answers can be wrong, and the assistant can read general account data, for example your status, recent activity and device.
Report a problem, and following up on reports
Report a problem handles technical faults. Install any app update first, then, if the fault persists, open Help from your profile menu, choose Report a Problem, and either shake the phone on the faulty screen or use the option that skips the shake. Explain what you were doing, name your device and add a screenshot.
Instagram attaches device and account details on its own, and lets you add complete logs too. Appeals don't belong here: decisions on content or accounts have their own Request a review route.
Support Requests, found under Help in your settings, is the inbox for your reports: it shows whether Instagram took action and the outcome, and for certain content offers a review. Hold on to any reporting number Instagram gives you, and reply directly to any email it sends about a report.
When you can't get in
Locked out, the recovery flow is the support desk. Start with a login link via Forgot password?. When that fails, a phone-based support request may be offered; the reply goes to a private email address you provide and can involve a video selfie or questions about how and on what device you registered.
Suspect a takeover? Open instagram.com/hacked in any browser. Full walkthroughs: hacked account and no access to email or phone.
Meta Verified support in brief
Paying subscribers can reach human agents; the higher tiers add priority handling, a callback and case monitoring. Chat lives in the mobile apps only. Each case is numbered, and silence on your side for 7 days closes it for good. Its limits for accounts already lost are covered in Meta Verified support.
Advertisers and EU residents
Advertisers have their own desk, Meta Business Support, reached through the Meta Business Help Center.
EU residents can use a Meta form that sends their issue to the matching support team and channel. An automatic confirmation email follows, sometimes with a reporting number. EU law also gives you rights when content or an account is restricted: challenging a decision under the DSA.
Have this ready
- Current and former @names.
- The email and number registered on the account, lost or not.
- Dated screenshots of whatever you're seeing.
- Reference numbers from earlier reports or cases.
- A private email address for replies.
Never part of the list: passwords and codes of any kind.
Common questions
Can I call Instagram?
No. Meta runs no general phone support and warns that so-called support numbers are likely scams. The only calls are callbacks on certain paid Meta Verified plans.
Is there a human I can talk to?
Meta Verified subscribers get agents by chat or email. Without a subscription, help comes from self-service channels: articles, the AI assistant, in-app reports and the recovery screens.
How do I reach Instagram when I can't log in?
Request a login link with Forgot password?, then a support request from your phone if needed, or use instagram.com/hacked. The Help Center's AI assistant requires you to be signed in.
Where can I see what happened to my report?
Settings › Help › Support Requests › Reports shows whether Instagram acted, and for some content offers a review.
Not sure which channel fits?
Describe the problem and your attempts so far. You'll get a free pointer to the matching official route. No passwords or codes needed.
