The official Instagram recovery links and report forms, all in one checked list

In one minute

Search results are full of outdated or fake "Instagram support forms". The real list is short and free. To get into your own account you need just two addresses: instagram.com/hacked for a takeover or lockout, and instagram.com/accounts/password/reset for a forgotten password. A disabled account has no public form at all; its review request sits in the notice at login and in Account Status. Seven forms cover other people's accounts and content, from impersonation to privacy. We tested every link on 29 October 2026, and the old "account deactivated" form still shared online now just opens the Help Center home page.

Your own account: five starting points

  • Forgot the password? Go to instagram.com/accounts/password/reset or tap Forgot password? on the login screen. Instagram mails or texts a login link to the username, email or number you enter.
  • Taken over, or the reset doesn't help? Use instagram.com/hacked. It offers a login link, a security code or, failing those, a support request.
  • The email address on the account changed? Look in your previous inbox for the message from security@mail.instagram.com; its link reverses the change.
  • Two-factor code never comes? The two-factor screen accepts a saved backup code instead.
  • Neither inbox nor phone is yours any more? Start a support request on a phone, from the login-link screen or instagram.com/hacked, and give a private email address. Instagram then asks for a video selfie, or for your sign-up email or number and the type of device you used. It says the selfie is never shown on Instagram and is deleted within 30 days.

Instagram's own advice runs in that order: security email first, login link second, support request last. Full walkthroughs: hacked account and backup codes.

After Instagram restricts or disables you

SituationWhere the official route is
Account disabled or suspendedOnly in the notice you see at login; no public form exists (appeal plan)
Posts taken down or features limitedSettings › Account Status › Request a review
You live in the EUDSA complaint, then a certified out-of-court body (how it works)
Two reviews already lostThe Oversight Board, within 15 days (details)
That "deactivated account" form is gone. The address help.instagram.com/contact/606967319425038 has been passed around for years as the appeal form. When we opened it on 29 October 2026 it bounced to the Help Center home page. Pages that still link it, or that charge to "submit" an appeal on your behalf, are not part of Instagram's free process.

Someone else's account or content

Threats involving intimate images start with the in-app report and the steps in our sextortion guide. For fake, scam, deceased or underage accounts generally: getting an account closed.

Help that only exists inside the app

  • Account Status (Settings): what was removed, what's limited, review requests.
  • Recent emails (Password and security): two weeks of genuine security mail, for checking a suspicious message.
  • Where you're logged in and login activity (Accounts Center).
  • Connected apps (Settings › Website permissions › Apps and websites).
  • Report a problem for bugs and Support Requests for following your reports.
  • Meta Verified chat and email support, for subscribers.
  • The Meta AI support assistant in the Help Center, which only works when you're signed in on that browser.
  • Official addresses end in instagram.com (including help.instagram.com and accountscenter.instagram.com) or Meta's help.meta.com and meta.com. Read the domain before entering anything.
  • None of these routes costs money, needs a middleman or requires anyone else to know your password or a code.
  • Genuine Instagram email comes from @mail.instagram.com: checking a suspicious message.
  • "Support" links arriving by DM or comment are never official: recovery scams.

Common questions

Which link do I use if my Instagram was hacked?

instagram.com/hacked, then the login link, security code or support request it offers.

Where's the appeal form for a disabled account?

There isn't a public one. Appeal from the notice at login or via Account Status; the old contact/606967319425038 form led to the Help Center home page when we checked on 29 October 2026.

Can I report a fake account without having Instagram?

Yes. The impersonation form (contact/636276399721841) opened without a login in our test.

Should I pay someone to submit a form for me?

No. Every official route is free, and no genuine process needs your password.

Not sure which link is yours?

Describe what happened to the account. A free first look tells you the one official route that fits. Your password and codes stay with you.
