The Where you're logged in screen, inside Accounts Center's password and security settings, lists recent sessions and lets you sign selected ones out. The quickest way to end every other session is a new password: Instagram signs out all devices when it changes. Then shut the side doors: two-factor, trusted devices, connected apps and your contact details. Already locked out? Then this isn't your page; the hacked-account route is.
Find your session list
Instagram is moving people from Accounts Center to Meta Account, so the label depends on your app:
- Settings › Accounts Center (or Meta Account).
- Password and security.
- Where you're logged in: recent sessions for every account in that Accounts Center.
Don't see it yet? Older layouts show Login Activity directly in Settings.
Signing out the strangers
| Screen | How |
|---|---|
| Where you're logged in | Pick your account, scroll down, Select devices to log out, tick them, confirm with Log out |
| Older Login Activity | This Was Me for your own; This Wasn't Me for unknowns, which starts a password reset; each entry's menu also has Log out |
Unsure about an entry? Instagram's advice for an unfamiliar place or device is to assume it isn't you and secure the account.
Everyone out in one move
Going down the list isn't necessary. Instagram says a password change automatically signs out every device on the account, suspicious ones included, and each has to sign in again.
- Choose a new password used nowhere else: at least six characters mixing numbers, letters and symbols (Instagram recommends eight or more).
- Sign back in on your own devices.
The side doors
An intruder may have planted a way to return:
- Two-factor authentication. Switch it on, preferably with an authenticator app; if it's on, check its phone number and devices. Dropping a device from two-factor leaves its session open, so end that as well.
- Trusted devices. They never get asked for a code; prune the list in the two-factor settings.
- Connected apps and websites. Settings › Your app and media › Website permissions › Apps and Websites: remove what you don't recognise. Any app still marked active keeps access to whatever you shared with it.
- Email, phone, linked accounts. Only your own details on the account, and nothing unknown in Accounts Center.
Full list: security checklist.
Signing out of this phone or computer
Profile › menu (top right) › Log out at the bottom. On a borrowed or public device, refuse the offer to remember your login. Remembered accounts can be cleared from the login screen (Options › Remove profiles from this device); the account itself stays untouched.
Can't get in yourself?
Once the password, email or number has been changed, none of the above is reachable. Go to the hacked-account steps. Unexpected security emails? Verify them before acting: fake emails and DMs.
Common questions
How can I see who's signed in to my Instagram?
Accounts Center › Password and security › Where you're logged in lists recent sessions; older layouts call it Login Activity, in Settings.
Can I end every session in one go?
Yes: a new password does exactly that. Individual devices can be signed out too.
If I remove a phone from two-factor, is it signed out?
No; end its session separately or change the password.
Does clearing a remembered login affect my account?
No. It just forgets the account on that phone; nothing is deactivated or deleted.
Found a session that isn't yours?
